Four in double figures as BYU women hold off Houston 76-66 for 1st Big 12 Tournament win

Olivia Hamlin led BYU with 16 points, while Delaney Gibb and Lara Rohkohl each scored 15, and Sydney Benally added 14 in a 76-66 victory over Houston in the first round of the Big 12 Tournament. Despite committing 22 turnovers, BYU outshot Houston 47% to 31% and secured the win in the final minutes. BYU, the ninth seed, will face eighth-seeded Utah in the second round. Houston’s Shun’teria Anumele and TK Pitts combined for 31 points, but their efforts weren’t enough to overcome BYU’s lead. BYU had previously defeated Houston in the regular season and is on a four-game winning streak. Houston’s season ends with a 1-17 record in Big 12 play. QUESTION: How might BYU’s performance in the Big 12 Tournament impact their confidence and strategy in future games?
