No lawsuits required: U.S. Customs is working on a system to refund tariffs

U.S. customs officials are developing a system to refund tariffs after the Supreme Court ruled many of President Trump’s tariffs unconstitutional. Businesses that paid these import taxes are eager to get their money back, but there were concerns they might need to file individual lawsuits. Customs and Border Protection is working on a streamlined process using an existing electronic portal to avoid this. The government collected $166 billion in tariffs, which now must be refunded with interest. A judge has ordered immediate refunds, and an appeals court denied a delay request. The Justice Department had previously assured that refunds would be possible if the tariffs were overturned. This situation highlights the importance of fair trade practices and government accountability. QUESTION: How might the refunding of these tariffs impact small businesses and their ability to grow or invest in the future?
