A large meteor is visible from much of Ohio and parts of neighboring states

A large meteor created a spectacular fireball and loud “boom” as it passed through the atmosphere above northern Ohio on Tuesday morning. This event was captured by a Geostationary Lightning Mapper at 9:01 am ET, which showed the meteor’s path over Lake Erie, just west of Cleveland. The meteor’s bright streak was visible across a wide area, and the noise was caused by a powerful shockwave, not by breaking the sound barrier like a jet. Although no ground impacts have been reported, the meteor’s passage was a dramatic reminder of how space objects can interact with Earth’s atmosphere. This story highlights the importance of monitoring space activity and understanding its effects on our planet. QUESTION: How might witnessing a meteor’s fiery passage through the sky change your perspective on Earth’s place in the universe?
