Americans’ trust in the CDC’s vaccine recommendations declines markedly under Trump

A recent poll reveals that only 60% of Americans trust the federal government’s vaccine recommendations for children, a drop from 71% in 2025. Trust among Democrats fell the most, from 81% to 66%. Many people now prefer vaccine guidance from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) over the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This shift follows changes in vaccine policy under President Trump’s administration, including the replacement of a key advisory panel. The AAP and other health experts warn that these changes could endanger public health, especially as diseases like measles are on the rise. The poll also shows growing concern about measles, with more Americans worried about the disease now than in previous years. QUESTION: How might the decline in trust towards government vaccine recommendations impact public health efforts in the future?
