She’s won 24 Paralympic medals. But Oksana Masters wants to talk about times she lost

Oksana Masters, a multi-sport athlete, is the most decorated U.S. Winter Paralympian, with 24 medals, including 14 golds, from both Summer and Winter Paralympics. Despite facing significant health challenges, including a concussion, leg infection, and hand surgery, Masters competed in the Milan Cortina Games. Born in Ukraine with birth defects from radiation poisoning, she was adopted by an American mom and overcame numerous surgeries and amputations. Masters found freedom in adaptive rowing at 13, winning her first Paralympic medal in 2012. She later transitioned to cycling, cross-country skiing, and biathlon due to a back injury. Her perseverance and determination are inspiring, as she continues to compete and succeed despite obstacles.
