Study pinpoints when bow and arrow came to North America

About 1,400 years ago, people in North America began using the bow and arrow instead of the dart and atlatl, a tool that helped throw spears. This change happened quickly in the southern regions, but in the north, people used both tools for a while before fully switching to the bow and arrow over a thousand years. The bow and arrow were more accurate, could shoot farther and faster, and allowed for more frequent shots from different positions. This research was conducted by Metin Eren and his team at Kent State University, who study ancient technologies by recreating them. Eren is known for his unique experiments, like testing knives made from frozen feces, but his work is serious science that helps us understand how ancient people lived and adapted their tools. QUESTION: How might the rapid adoption of new technologies, like the bow and arrow in ancient times, compare to how quickly we adopt new technologies today?
