Teens get probation after using AI to create fake nudes of classmates

Two teenage boys in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, used artificial intelligence to create fake nude images of their classmates, leading to their probation. The boys, aged 14 at the time, generated about 350 images involving at least 59 underage girls by altering photos from social media and school materials. The victims, students at Lancaster Country Day School, expressed the emotional trauma they experienced, including anxiety and trust issues. The court proceedings were unusually open, allowing the community to hear the impact on the victims. Despite the defense’s claims of remorse, the boys did not apologize in court. The case highlights the serious consequences of misusing technology and the lasting effects on victims. QUESTION: How might the misuse of technology like AI impact trust and relationships among students in your school community?
