Artemis II crew on historic moon mission and what it means for Earth

Less than a week after their return to Earth, the Artemis II crew is reflecting on their historic journey around the moon. Commander Reid Wiseman, mission specialists Christina Koch and Jeremy Hansen, and pilot Victor Glover shared their experiences with CBS Evening News. Glover was captivated by the moon’s terminator, the line dividing night and day, which highlighted the lunar topography. Koch marveled at the moon’s mountain outlines, while Hansen was intrigued by a “handprint” on the moon’s far side. Wiseman was awed by witnessing a solar eclipse from space, describing it as an unexpected and beautiful sight. Despite these extraordinary experiences, the astronauts are glad to be home, appreciating the comforts of Earth like gravity and showers. Glover enjoys simple pleasures like relaxing at home, while Koch finds new appreciation for everyday sights. The crew remains busy with science and training as they readjust to life on Earth. QUESTION: How might the experiences of the Artemis II crew inspire future generations to explore space?
