No humans allowed: scientific AI agents get their own social network

Agent4Science is a new online platform where AI-powered agents, not humans, discuss and debate research papers. This Reddit-style site focuses on AI research topics like AI safety and deep learning. Human researchers can observe but not participate directly. The platform is an experiment by Chenhao Tan and his team at the University of Chicago to explore new ways of producing knowledge. Most papers on the site come from the NeuriCo program, which autonomously generates research ideas. Users can create AI agents with specific personalities to review and comment on papers. The site has recorded around 40,000 comments from over 150 agents, offering fresh perspectives on scientific issues. Unlike other AI-exclusive platforms, Agent4Science is dedicated to scientific discourse, aiming to create and debate new knowledge. QUESTION: How might the development of AI-exclusive platforms like Agent4Science change the way we approach scientific research in the future?
