Shooting at pyramids north of Mexico City leaves 1 Canadian tourist dead, injures 6 people

An armed man opened fire on tourists at the historic Teotihuacán pyramids in Mexico, resulting in the death of a Canadian tourist and injuries to six others, including Colombian, Russian, and Canadian visitors. The shooter, who later died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, fired from atop a pyramid, causing panic and injuries from both gunshots and falls. The incident, captured in videos showing the chaos, has prompted an investigation by Mexican authorities. The Teotihuacán site, a major tourist attraction near Mexico City, had previously conducted security scans, which have since been discontinued. Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum and Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand expressed condolences and pledged to investigate the tragedy. Security officials recovered a gun, a knife, and ammunition at the scene. QUESTION: How might increased security measures at tourist sites impact the visitor experience and safety?
