Sosa has tiebreaking 2-run double, Varland snuffs out Angels rally as Blue Jays hold on for 4-2 win

Lenyn Sosa’s pinch-hit, two-run double in the eighth inning helped the Toronto Blue Jays secure a 4-2 victory over the Los Angeles Angels. Reliever Louis Varland saved the game by inducing a double-play grounder after closer Jeff Hoffman struggled in the ninth. The Blue Jays took the lead when Ernie Clement doubled, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was intentionally walked, and Sosa hit a double. Eloy Jiménez added an RBI single. Toronto’s starter Patrick Corbin allowed one run over five innings, while the Angels’ Jack Kochanowicz gave up one run in 5 2/3 innings. The Angels have now lost four consecutive games. Mike Trout tied a franchise record for most games played at one position. The series finale will feature Toronto’s Eric Lauer against Los Angeles’ Jose Soriano, who has been dominant this season. QUESTION: How might the Blue Jays’ recent winning streak impact their confidence and performance in upcoming games?
