Stepbrother pleads not guilty to murder, sex abuse charges in cruise ship death

A 16-year-old boy has been charged as an adult with first-degree murder and aggravated sexual abuse in the death of his stepsister, 18-year-old Anna Kepner, during a family cruise on the Carnival Horizon. The teenager pleaded not guilty and waived his court appearance in Miami. The Department of Justice announced the charges months after Kepner died from mechanical asphyxiation while the ship was traveling to Miami. Prosecutors allege the stepbrother sexually assaulted and killed her. Anna Kepner was remembered by her family as a happy, bright student with a promising future. Her father, Chris Kepner, and stepmother, Shauntel Kepner, expressed their devastation and commitment to honoring her memory. QUESTION: How might this tragic event impact the way families approach safety and trust during vacations?
