Iran says it seized ships in Strait of Hormuz as U.S. blockade continues amid ceasefire

Tensions between the U.S. and Iran have escalated following attacks on three ships in the Strait of Hormuz, despite a ceasefire extension by President Trump. The ceasefire, extended at Pakistan’s request, aimed to facilitate peace talks, but Iran dismissed it as meaningless. The attacks, attributed to Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, damaged a British container ship and involved the seizure of two other vessels. Iran’s refusal to attend peace talks and its claim that U.S. actions, such as the blockade of Iranian ports and the seizure of an Iranian ship, violate the ceasefire, further complicate the situation. President Trump argues that Iran’s economy is struggling, which could impact its position in negotiations. QUESTION: How might the ongoing tensions between the U.S. and Iran influence global trade and international relations?
