Wildfire that has destroyed nearly 90 homes in Georgia threatens more evacuations

A wildfire in Brantley County, Georgia, has destroyed nearly 90 homes and continues to spread, prompting officials to order more evacuations. The fire, which began on Monday, has expanded over 8 square miles due to strong winds and dry conditions. Firefighters are working tirelessly to protect homes by clearing dry brush and using hoses to keep properties wet. The blaze is only 15% contained, and officials warn that containment could quickly decrease with changing winds. In addition to this fire, over 150 other wildfires are burning in Georgia and Florida, affecting air quality in distant areas. The region is experiencing increased wildfire risk due to climate change and past hurricane damage. Rain is needed to help control the fires, but forecasts predict only a 20% to 40% chance of showers, which may not be enough to extinguish them. QUESTION: How might the increasing frequency of wildfires impact communities and the environment in the future?
