Rockets’ Kevin Durant makes progress with injury but a return for Game 5 vs. Lakers seems unlikely

Houston Rockets’ Kevin Durant is making progress with his injured left ankle but is unlikely to play in Game 5 against the Los Angeles Lakers. Durant missed practice on Tuesday and was seen using an anti-gravity treadmill as the team prepared to travel to California, trailing 3-1 in the series. Coach Ime Udoka mentioned that Durant’s return is uncertain, as he continues conditioning but hasn’t practiced. Durant has missed three games in the series due to a sprained ankle and bone bruise, after initially sitting out with a knee injury. Despite his absence, the Rockets won Game 4 to avoid elimination. Durant, in his first season with Houston after a trade from Phoenix, is the NBA’s fifth-leading scorer and played significant minutes during the regular season. QUESTION: How might Kevin Durant’s absence impact the Rockets’ chances in the playoffs, and what strategies could the team use to adapt?
