Witness says D.C. shooting suspect “fell right at my feet”

During the White House Correspondents’ Dinner at the Washington Hilton, a security breach occurred when a gunman, Cole Allen, attempted to enter the event. Air Force veteran Erin Thielman, who was outside the ballroom, witnessed Allen fall at her feet before being arrested. Thielman quickly acted to close the ballroom doors, concerned for the safety of high-ranking officials, including President Trump and Vice President JD Vance, who were present among 2,500 guests. Allen, armed with a shotgun, pistol, and knives, had allegedly planned to target administration officials. He was charged with attempting to assassinate the president and faced additional firearms charges. Allen’s first court appearance took place on Monday, where he did not enter a plea. QUESTION: How might increased security measures at public events impact the experience and safety of attendees?
