Video captures massive explosion as NYPD officers approach home, 1 dead

An explosion triggered a five-alarm fire at a home in Queens early Thursday morning, resulting in the recovery of a body believed to be that of the suspect, Anoop Parasram. The blast damaged multiple homes and displaced over a dozen residents, while injuring at least seven NYPD officers, all of whom are in stable condition. The incident began with a domestic dispute call to the police, reporting a gas smell at the home. Parasram, allegedly intoxicated and armed with a knife, forced entry into the home, but his daughter and grandchildren managed to escape. As officers attempted to enter the residence, a massive explosion occurred, captured on dramatic bodycam footage. The suspect had a history of expired protection orders and previous police visits to the home. Security footage showed a person carrying bags with canisters before the explosion, which remains under investigation. Mayor Zohran Mamdani praised the bravery of first responders, and the Red Cross is assisting displaced residents with temporary housing. QUESTION: How might the community come together to support those affected by such a traumatic event?
