Former Chick-fil-A employee charged in $80,000 mac-and-cheese scheme

A former Chick-fil-A employee in Texas has been charged with defrauding the fast-food chain of $80,000 by issuing unauthorized refunds for 800 trays of mac-and-cheese to his personal credit cards. The Grapevine Police Department reported that the suspect, 23-year-old Keyshun Jones, had been fired a month prior but returned to the store, accessed the register, and processed the fraudulent transactions. Surveillance footage captured him in casual attire, not the company’s uniform, as he executed the scheme. After multiple attempts, police arrested Jones on April 17, charging him with property theft, money laundering, and evading arrest. He is currently held at Green Bay prison in Fort Worth, Texas. The incident highlights vulnerabilities in retail security systems and raises questions about employee oversight and fraud prevention. QUESTION: What measures could businesses implement to prevent similar fraudulent activities by former employees?
