Is testosterone therapy safe and effective? What we know

In December, an expert panel from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) suggested expanding access to testosterone, viewing it as a key preventive health measure. Currently, testosterone is prescribed for those with medical conditions causing low levels, but the panel believes more people, including women, could benefit. This has sparked debate: some argue lifestyle changes can naturally boost testosterone, while others see treatment as beneficial for those with symptoms like fatigue. Despite being marketed as a lifestyle enhancer, testosterone carries risks like infertility and increased mortality. The drug is controlled due to potential abuse, highlighted by doping scandals. QUESTION: How might the increased availability of testosterone treatments impact societal views on health and aging?
