French hantavirus patient is critically ill as outbreak grows to 11

A French woman is critically ill with hantavirus after an outbreak on a cruise ship, now being treated with an artificial lung at a Paris hospital. The outbreak has resulted in 11 cases, with 9 confirmed, and 3 deaths, including a Dutch couple believed to have contracted the virus in South America. The World Health Organization (WHO) reports that all cases are linked to the cruise ship, with no signs of a larger outbreak yet. However, due to the virus’s long incubation period, more cases could emerge. A Spanish passenger also tested positive and is in quarantine in Madrid. Argentina is sending experts to investigate the outbreak’s source. Early detection and treatment are crucial, as there is no cure or vaccine for hantavirus. QUESTION: How might the experience of a virus outbreak on a cruise ship change the way people view travel and safety in the future?
