Meta launches WhatsApp ‘incognito’ mode to address privacy concerns for AI chats

Meta Platforms is introducing an “incognito” mode for WhatsApp, allowing users to have private conversations with its AI chatbot. This feature aims to address privacy concerns by ensuring that messages are processed in a secure environment, not saved by default, and disappear after the session ends. This move comes as generative AI systems face scrutiny over privacy issues, given that they are trained on large datasets that may include personal information. Other companies like Google and ChatGPT have similar privacy features. Meta’s incognito mode is designed for users who ask sensitive questions involving personal, financial, or health information. The mode includes safety features to prevent the chatbot from engaging with harmful topics and requires users to confirm their age, as Meta’s platforms are not for those under 13. QUESTION: How might the introduction of incognito mode on WhatsApp change the way people interact with AI chatbots?
