Utah woman who published a book on grief after husband’s death to be sentenced for his murder

A Utah mother, Kouri Richins, has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for the murder of her husband, Eric Richins. Convicted of aggravated murder, she poisoned him with a lethal dose of fentanyl in 2022. Richins, who had written a children’s book about grief, was also found guilty of insurance fraud, forgery, and attempted murder for a previous poisoning attempt. The court heard that she was in debt and had taken out life insurance policies on her husband without his knowledge. Her sons, now in the care of their aunt, expressed fear of their mother, citing threats and neglect. The case drew public attention when Richins was arrested while promoting her book. Her attorneys plan to appeal, but the judge deemed her too dangerous to be released. QUESTION: How might the actions of a parent impact the emotional and psychological well-being of their children in the long term?
