Nogic scores 27 points, Mercury blow big lead before topping Sky 91-83

The Phoenix Mercury secured a 91-83 victory over the Chicago Sky, with Jovana Nogic leading the charge by scoring 27 points. Despite losing a 17-point lead in the second half, the Mercury managed to pull through in the final minutes. Alyssa Thomas and Kahleah Copper each contributed 17 points, playing crucial roles alongside Nogic in the closing moments. Natasha Mack added 10 points, and the team excelled at the free-throw line, making 37 of 41 attempts. For Chicago, Rickea Jackson scored 29 points, and Gabriela Jaquez added 13, but the team fell short despite taking a brief lead late in the game. Skylar Diggins, a key player for the Sky, was unable to score due to an eye injury. The Mercury’s win was a highlight on coach Nate Tibbetts’ birthday, while the Sky will look to bounce back in their next game against Minnesota. QUESTION: How might the absence of a key player like Skylar Diggins impact a team’s performance and morale in a high-stakes game?
