Victim of “horrifying” Chelsea murder identified after 26 years

After 26 years, investigators have identified “Chelsea Jane Doe” as Tiffany Bradley, a 16-year-old from Pennsylvania, thanks to DNA testing and investigative genealogy. Bradley was found murdered in 2000 in Massachusetts, her body discovered in a gruesome state at the Chelsea Soldiers’ Home. Eugene McCollom, who is serving a life sentence for her murder, had confessed to burying her head and hands at Nahant Beach. Bradley’s family had reported her missing, and it is believed she fell victim to human trafficking before meeting McCollom in Boston. Her family, who described her as a loving and athletic girl, expressed gratitude for finally being able to bring her home. This case highlights the power of modern forensic technology in solving cold cases and bringing closure to families. QUESTION: How might advancements in DNA technology continue to impact the resolution of cold cases in the future?
