Virginia man in ‘au pair affair’ case to be sentenced in double murder scheme

In Fairfax, Virginia, Brendan Banfield is set to be sentenced for the murder of his wife, Christine Banfield, and Joseph Ryan, who was lured to their home as part of a scheme. Banfield, a former IRS officer, and the family’s au pair, Juliana Peres Magalhães, plotted to kill Christine so Banfield could avoid divorce and gain custody of their daughter. The case, known as the “au pair affair,” highlights the tragic consequences of deceit and manipulation.
