Israeli airstrikes kill 9 including Lebanese army officers after ceasefire deal

Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon on Saturday resulted in the deaths of nine people, including three Lebanese military members, just days after a new ceasefire agreement was reached. Another strike in the village of Saksakiyah killed six and injured four. The Lebanese army condemned the attacks, accusing Israel of trying to undermine peace efforts. Israel’s military claimed the vehicle was suspiciously approaching Israeli soldiers, suggesting Hezbollah was involved. Lebanon’s President Joseph Aoun criticized the strike as a violation of sovereignty and international law, amid ongoing tensions and failed ceasefire efforts. The situation is further complicated by Iran’s opposition to the ceasefire, with Iranian officials denying using Lebanon as leverage in negotiations with the U.S. QUESTION: How might ongoing conflicts like this impact the future of young people living in the affected regions?
