5 taken to the hospital after strong winds at NCAA tournament

A severe storm disrupted the Morgantown Super Regional NCAA baseball tournament game between West Virginia and Cal Poly, resulting in five people being hospitalized. The storm, with winds reaching 40 mph, caused chaos as it tore through a fan area, sending one person airborne and another rolling down a hill. Fans scrambled for safety from Randy’s Ridge near the Kendrick Family Ballpark. The storm also left thousands without power in the nearby Pittsburgh area. Despite the weather delay, West Virginia won the game 17-1, advancing to the College World Series for the first time in their history. West Virginia University police confirmed the hospitalizations, and the university is coordinating with local healthcare providers to support those affected. QUESTION: How might the increasing frequency of severe weather events impact outdoor sports and large gatherings in the future?
