She waited decades for Scotland to make the World Cup. At 93, she’ll cheer in person

Moira Brown, a spirited 93-year-old from Glasgow, is a dedicated member of Scotland’s Tartan Army of soccer fans. Despite her age, she continues to travel and support her team, attending her fourth World Cup in person. This year marks Scotland’s first World Cup qualification since 1998, and Brown is excited to watch all of Scotland’s group stage matches in the United States. Her passion for soccer began in the 1930s when her father took her to a match, and since then, she has followed the Scottish national teams worldwide. Brown cherishes her soccer experiences, recalling the 1974 World Cup final between Germany and Holland as the best game she ever witnessed. Known for her love of soccer over fashion, she spends her money on football tickets, celebrating Scotland’s successes and enduring their “glorious failures.” QUESTION: How might Moira Brown’s lifelong passion for soccer inspire others to pursue their interests regardless of age?
