Cruise ship killing: Judge orders stepbrother be taken into US Marshals’ custody

A 16-year-old from Florida, identified as “T.H.,” has been taken into custody by U.S. Marshals and will remain detained until his trial. He is accused of murdering and sexually assaulting his 18-year-old stepsister, Anna Kepner, on a Carnival cruise ship in November 2025. T.H. has pleaded not guilty to the charges. Prosecutors argue he is too dangerous to be free before the trial, while his lawyers claim he has been cooperative. The trial is scheduled for September 8. Anna’s family remembers her as a bright and joyful person and expressed relief that T.H. is now in custody. They hope for justice as the trial approaches. QUESTION: How might the outcome of this trial impact the families involved and their future relationships?
