Pavin Smith’s 1st homer of the season lifts the Diamondbacks over the Angels 4-3

The Arizona Diamondbacks secured a 4-3 victory over the Los Angeles Angels, thanks to Pavin Smith’s decisive solo home run in the seventh inning. Smith, who has been recovering from elbow surgery, hit his first homer in nearly a year, breaking a 2-2 tie. Ryne Nelson pitched seven strong innings for the Diamondbacks, allowing two runs and striking out five. Geraldo Perdomo contributed with an RBI double, extending the lead to 4-2. Despite a late solo homer by Donovan Walton, Paul Sewald closed the game, earning his 18th save. Mike Trout hit his 16th home run for the Angels, tying the game earlier. The Diamondbacks’ Lourdes Gurriel Jr. returned from injury with an RBI single. The teams will face off again with Merrill Kelly and Reid Detmers as the starting pitchers. QUESTION: How might Pavin Smith’s return and performance impact the Diamondbacks’ morale and strategy moving forward?
