Struggling Pizza Hut restaurant chain will be sold for $2.7 billion

Pizza Hut, a well-known pizza chain, is being sold by its parent company, Yum Brands, for $2.7 billion. The sale comes as Pizza Hut has faced challenges like outdated stores and increased competition. Founded in 1958, Pizza Hut was acquired by PepsiCo in 1977 and later became part of Yum Brands in 1997. The chain will be split between two buyers: LongRange Capital will purchase the U.S. operations for $1.5 billion, while Yum China Holdings Inc. will acquire the mainland China business for $1.2 billion. Yum Brands, which also owns KFC and Taco Bell, decided to sell Pizza Hut to focus on its more successful brands. The sale is expected to be completed in the third quarter. This move highlights the difficulties Pizza Hut has faced in keeping up with the fast-paced restaurant industry. QUESTION: How might the sale of Pizza Hut impact the future of the brand and its employees?
