US consulate shooting in Toronto part of pattern of criminal-for-hire acts: Police

Earlier this year, a shooting at the U.S. consulate in Toronto was linked to a series of criminal acts involving young people hired to carry out attacks and film them. Toronto Police Chief Myron Demkiw announced arrests related to multiple shootings, including the consulate attack in March. These incidents, which also targeted synagogues and Jewish schools, follow a pattern where criminals use encrypted apps to recruit young people for attacks. Three teenagers have been arrested, while a fourth remains at large. The suspects allegedly fired at the consulate, damaging the building but causing no injuries. Surveillance footage showed them recording the attack. The investigation also connects these acts to other shootings in the city, including the fatal shooting of a Toronto officer. The police are working to uncover who is funding these attacks, which aim to instill fear in communities. QUESTION: Why do you think young people might be drawn into participating in such dangerous activities?
