Fans are fuming after World Cup tickets they bought through resale sites fall through

Bina Ramroop was heartbroken when she couldn’t get the World Cup tickets she bought for her grandson’s birthday. Despite spending hours trying to resolve the issue with StubHub and FIFA, the tickets she purchased for $485 each were never transferred to the FIFA app. StubHub offered a refund, but Ramroop wanted to attend the game, not get her money back. Many fans have faced similar problems, with complaints about missing tickets and last-minute cancellations flooding social media. Most issues involve StubHub, but other resale platforms like SeatGeek and Vivid Seats have also been problematic. Some problems are due to technical glitches, while others may involve sellers who never had tickets. FIFA recommends buying resale tickets through its marketplace, which adds a 30% surcharge. Ramroop, who had used StubHub before without issues, didn’t realize the risk. As she and her grandson returned home, he tried to comfort her, saying they hadn’t missed much. QUESTION: How might the experience of missing a highly anticipated event due to ticketing issues impact someone’s trust in online platforms?
