The Latest: Vance and Iranian negotiators are in Switzerland to work on details of deal

U.S. and Iranian negotiators, along with Pakistani and Qatari mediators, are meeting in Switzerland to discuss an interim agreement aimed at ending the Iran war, which began in late February. The U.S. delegation, led by Vice President JD Vance, is negotiating with Iranian officials, including Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf. The talks are complicated by Iran’s closure of the Strait of Hormuz in response to Israel’s military actions in Lebanon. President Trump has threatened to impose tolls in the strait if a final deal isn’t reached within 60 days. Meanwhile, Israeli President Isaac Herzog has expressed concerns about Iran’s influence in Lebanon, and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian is worried about potential protests in Iran. Despite Iran’s claim of closing the strait, U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright reports that shipping traffic remains normal. QUESTION: How might the ongoing negotiations between the U.S. and Iran impact global oil prices and international relations?
