Michael Wacha fires 7 quality innings to spur Royals to 2-1 victory in Tampa Bay

Michael Wacha delivered an impressive performance, allowing just one run over seven innings, as the Kansas City Royals edged out the Tampa Bay Rays 2-1. Wacha, a former Rays pitcher, limited Tampa Bay to 0 for 7 with runners in scoring position and struck out five. The Royals scored early with Lane Thomas doubling in Michael Massey, who had walked. Carter Jensen added another run in the fifth, driving in Nick Loftin. Despite Tampa Bay’s efforts, including Chandler Simpson’s two hits, they couldn’t capitalize on scoring opportunities, leaving five runners stranded. Royals closer Alex Lange secured the win with a perfect ninth inning. Kansas City has now won four of their last five games. The teams will face off again with Shane McClanahan pitching for the Rays against Luinder Avila for the Royals. QUESTION: How might a strong performance by a former team member, like Michael Wacha, impact the morale and strategy of both the player’s current and former teams?
