Scheffler gets some help from Clark, but can’t take advantage at the US Open

Scottie Scheffler, the world’s top golfer, missed his chance to complete a career Grand Slam at the U.S. Open in Southampton, New York. Despite Wyndham Clark’s struggles, Scheffler couldn’t capitalize, finishing in a tie for fourth place. Clark won by one shot over Sam Burns, securing his second title in four years. Scheffler, who celebrated his 30th birthday, made only two birdies and couldn’t close the gap on Clark, who had a five-shot lead by the 16th hole. The New York crowd’s mixed reactions added to the day’s unusual atmosphere. Scheffler will have to wait until next year at Pebble Beach for another shot at the Grand Slam. QUESTION: How might the pressure of completing a career Grand Slam affect an athlete’s performance in crucial moments?
