US, Iranian negotiators enter 2nd day of talks after rough start

Senior negotiators from the U.S. and Iran concluded initial talks in Switzerland aimed at ending the conflict between the two nations. Despite some tense moments, progress was made, including agreements to create a “de-confliction cell” for Lebanon and mechanisms to keep the Strait of Hormuz open. U.S. Vice President JD Vance and Iranian officials discussed Tehran’s nuclear program as part of a fragile peace deal. However, the talks were disrupted by U.S. President Donald Trump’s inflammatory comments, which led to a temporary pause. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian insisted on Iran’s right to enrich uranium, while Trump threatened further action against Iran. The negotiations, involving Qatari and Pakistani mediators, are part of efforts to resolve the conflict initiated by the U.S. and Israel. QUESTION: How might the ongoing tensions between the U.S. and Iran impact global peace efforts and international relations?
