UN chief urges AI companies to ‘come clean’ about the pollution they generate

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has urged artificial intelligence companies to disclose the environmental impact of their operations, including carbon emissions and the use of water and land. He stressed the importance of eliminating hidden environmental costs and ensuring that the burden is not unfairly placed on those least able to bear it. QUESTION: How might increased transparency in AI companies’ environmental impact influence future technological developments?
