Federal judge bars Trump from implementing proof of citizenship requirement to vote

A federal judge has permanently blocked most of former President Donald Trump’s first executive order on elections, which included a requirement for voters to show proof of citizenship when registering. Judge Denise Casper ruled that the order violated the Constitution, which grants election regulation powers to states and Congress, not the President. This decision follows a preliminary injunction from a year ago and is part of a series of legal challenges against Trump’s election-related orders. New York Attorney General Letitia James praised the ruling, emphasizing the importance of protecting voting rights. Trump’s efforts to implement similar measures through legislation continue, but they face significant opposition. QUESTION: How might the ongoing legal battles over voting regulations impact future elections and voter participation?
