Trump to attend World Cup final and present trophy

United States President Donald Trump is set to attend the World Cup final on July 19, 2026, at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, where he will help present the trophy alongside FIFA President Gianni Infantino. Although Trump, 80, has not yet attended any World Cup games, he may make an appearance before the final. The tournament, which began on June 11, is being hosted across Canada, Mexico, and the United States, with the U.S. hosting the majority of the matches. Infantino, who has become a close friend of Trump, confirmed their joint presentation of the trophy. Despite his busy schedule, Trump has been involved in other sporting events, such as attending the NBA Finals and a UFC event. Last year, he caused some confusion by remaining on stage after presenting the Club World Cup trophy. QUESTION: How might President Trump’s involvement in the World Cup final influence public perception of the event?
