‘We are with you, Venezuela’: Houston community rallies after deadly earthquakes

A devastating pair of earthquakes struck Venezuela’s northern coast, causing widespread destruction and leaving many trapped under rubble. Arianna Regardia, a Venezuelan living in Katy, Texas, was relieved to learn her family in Caracas was safe. Motivated to help, she joined other volunteers at MetaBox Cargo to sort and pack donations for earthquake survivors. The quakes, measuring 7.2 and 7.5 in magnitude, resulted in at least 235 deaths and thousands of injuries. The U.S. pledged $150 million for relief efforts. This story highlights the resilience and solidarity of the Venezuelan community in the face of disaster. QUESTION: How might the support from communities abroad impact the recovery efforts in Venezuela after such a disaster?
