U.S. official says talks will resume after Iran threatens to walk away

Over the weekend, tensions between the U.S. and Iran escalated with both nations exchanging strikes, but talks are set to continue, and both sides have agreed to stand down. The U.S. reported that Iranian drones and missiles targeting American assets in Bahrain and Kuwait were intercepted, resulting in no injuries or damage. Meanwhile, Israel resumed strikes on Lebanon, targeting Hezbollah members, following a recent agreement between the two countries. Iran’s Foreign Minister warned that any deviation from the agreed routes in the Strait of Hormuz could heighten tensions, as the Revolutionary Guards claimed responsibility for attacks in Bahrain and Kuwait. The U.S. military criticized Iran for not honoring the ceasefire. The situation remains delicate, with the potential for further conflict affecting global oil and gas exports through the Strait of Hormuz. QUESTION: How might ongoing tensions in the Middle East impact global energy supplies and international relations?
