Haaland nets game-winner as Norway wins a World Cup knockout game

Erling Haaland scored the decisive goal in the 86th minute, leading Norway to a 2-1 victory over Ivory Coast and securing their place in the World Cup round of 16 for the first time. Haaland’s goal, his fifth in three games, came after Patrick Berg set him up in the penalty area. Earlier, Antonio Nusa had put Norway ahead with a curling shot in the first half, while Amad Diallo equalized for Ivory Coast in the 74th minute. Norway will face Brazil next, marking their first World Cup knockout appearance since 1998. Despite a late chance for Ivory Coast, Norway’s goalkeeper Orjan Nyland made a crucial save to maintain the lead. Haaland, who has scored in 13 consecutive international matches, continues to be a key player for Norway. QUESTION: How might Norway’s victory and progression in the World Cup inspire young athletes in the country?
