Sergio Garcia misses out on British Open again as Baldwin gets a home game at Birkdale

Sergio Garcia will miss the British Open for the third time in four years after failing to secure one of the 20 qualifying spots available across four courses during the 36-hole qualifying rounds. Matthew Baldwin, however, successfully qualified and will play on his home course at Royal Birkdale, expressing excitement about competing in front of his family. The British Open is scheduled for July 16-19 in Southport, England. Several Americans, including Peter Uihlein, Caleb Surratt, and James Nicholas, also qualified for the British Open and the U.S. Open. Other notable qualifiers include Baard Bjoernevik Skogen and Sam Bairstow. Some well-known players, such as Thomas Detry, Anirban Lahiri, and Danny Willet, did not make the cut. QUESTION: How might missing a major tournament like the British Open impact a professional golfer’s career and mindset?
