Huge Russian strike on Ukraine’s capital kills at least 21, officials say

Russia launched its largest attack on Kyiv since the start of its full-scale invasion over four years ago, resulting in at least 21 deaths and 85 injuries, including two children. The assault involved 74 missiles and 496 drones, causing significant damage to residential buildings and civilian infrastructure across the city. Residents sought refuge in shelters as explosions rocked Kyiv for hours. Russia’s Defense Ministry claimed the strikes targeted military plants, while Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov warned of further attacks. In response, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy requested air defense support from the U.S., emphasizing the urgent need for Patriot missiles. Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha urged allies to bolster the country’s air defenses, describing the attack as a “night of horror.” The ongoing conflict has seen intensified Russian attacks on Kyiv, while Ukraine’s drone campaign has disrupted Russian supply lines. QUESTION: How might the continued escalation of conflict between Russia and Ukraine impact global political and economic stability?
