Jaylen Brown traded from Celtics to Sixers for Paul George, draft picks

Jaylen Brown has been traded from the Boston Celtics to the Philadelphia 76ers, as confirmed by league sources. The trade, initially reported by ESPN’s Shams Charania, involves the Celtics receiving Paul George, two first-round picks, and two second-round picks. The 2028 first-round pick could potentially be swapped for a more favorable option for Boston, and the Celtics also gain a 2031 unprotected first-round pick along with conditional second-round selections for 2028 and 2030. Brown, who was the third overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, spent ten seasons with the Celtics, averaging 20.0 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. He was a five-time All-Star and twice named second-team All-NBA. Despite a strong personal season in 2025-26, the Celtics were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by the 76ers. Brown’s trade follows Boston’s unsuccessful attempt to acquire Giannis Antetokounmpo, who was later traded to the Miami Heat. Celtics president Brad Stevens had previously expressed his intention to keep Brown as part of the team’s future. QUESTION: How might Jaylen Brown’s move to the Philadelphia 76ers impact the dynamics of the team and the NBA Eastern Conference?
