Russia hits Ukraine’s capital with a massive drone and missile attack, killing at least 18

A recent Russian missile and drone attack on Kyiv, Ukraine, resulted in at least 18 deaths and over 90 injuries. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that Russia launched more than 70 missiles and around 500 drones, with a significant portion intercepted by Ukraine’s air defenses. However, many missiles still hit targets, including residential areas and critical infrastructure. The attack, which prompted air raid sirens and forced residents to seek shelter, is part of an ongoing conflict between the two nations, with Russia claiming retaliation for Ukrainian strikes on its oil infrastructure. Zelenskyy has called for more Western air defense support, emphasizing the need for advanced systems like the U.S.-made Patriot to protect against missile attacks. Meanwhile, Ukraine continues its own drone strikes on Russian military and energy sites. This conflict underscores the challenges of modern warfare and the urgent need for effective defense strategies. QUESTION: How might the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine influence global perspectives on international security and defense strategies?
