Aroldis Chapman sets relief Ks record, Red Sox rookie Jake Bennett stifles Angels in 5-2 win

Rookie pitcher Jake Bennett led the Boston Red Sox to a 5-2 victory over the Los Angeles Angels, allowing only five hits and pitching into the eighth inning. Aroldis Chapman set a major league record for relief strikeouts, surpassing Hoyt Wilhelm’s record with his 1,364th strikeout. Despite allowing two singles after his milestone, Chapman secured his 17th save. Caleb Durbin hit a solo home run, contributing to Boston’s win. Bennett, in his seventh career start, struck out six and walked none, dominating until the Angels scored two runs in the eighth. Reid Detmers of the Angels struggled, giving up five runs. The Angels have now lost four consecutive games. Catcher Logan O’Hoppe was removed from the game for evaluation after a foul ball incident. The Red Sox continue their series against the Angels with Sam Aldegheri and Sonny Gray set to pitch next. QUESTION: How might breaking a long-standing sports record inspire young athletes in their own pursuits?
