Japan stifles Italy for the first time since 2018 in Nations Championship rugby

Japan defeated Italy 27-10 in a Nations Championship rugby match, marking their first victory over Italy since 2018. Japan led 17-10 at halftime and shut out Italy in the second half with a strong defensive performance. Fullback Takuro Matsunaga scored 17 points, including three tries, in front of a supportive home crowd. Despite missing key player Seungsin Lee, Japan’s replacement Ryunosuke Ito performed well, contributing to the team’s success. Italy initially took the lead, but Japan quickly responded and maintained control throughout the game. Japan’s defense was particularly effective, limiting Italy’s scoring opportunities and forcing errors. The win sets Japan up for their next match against Ireland in Australia, while Italy will face New Zealand. QUESTION: How do you think Japan’s victory over Italy might influence their confidence and performance in their upcoming match against Ireland?
