US marks 250th birthday with fireworks, flyovers and extreme weather

The United States celebrated its 250th birthday with a grand display of fireworks and festivities, despite intense weather conditions and a heat wave. President Donald Trump addressed a crowd at the National Mall in Washington, emphasizing themes of American independence and patriotism during the Freedom 250 event, which was separate from the congressionally established America 250 celebrations. His speech, which touched on political themes like rejecting communism and the right to bear arms, concluded with a promise of a “golden age of America.” The event, featuring a flyover and concert, was delayed by a thunderstorm, but eventually culminated in a spectacular fireworks display. Meanwhile, about 400 members of the white nationalist group Patriot Front marched through Washington, highlighting ongoing divisions in the country. The day was marked by extreme heat, with temperatures reaching 100F, part of a broader heat wave affecting the eastern US. QUESTION: How might the way we celebrate national milestones reflect the current political and social climate of a country?
